There are two ways to deduct an area from the final square footage of a sketch within RapidSketch.
1. Remove an area such as a garage from the final square footage
- Create the area you would like to deduct from the final square footage total and select an Area Type. Prior to selecting OK, please click on "Edit" to ensure the properties are set correctly.
- Ensure that Living Area is unchecked within the properties view
- Apply the area type to the area you created. The square footage of the new area will not be included in the final total living area
2. Deduct an area from the main living area, such as stairs, in the final square footage
- Create the area you would like to deduct from the final square footage total and select an Area Type. Prior to selecting OK, please click on "Edit" to ensure the properties are set correctly.
- Rather than uncheck the Living Area box, please keep this checked as the area you are going to be deducting is part of the actual living area.
- Within the Area Multiplier box, please include a subtraction sign before the number, for example, -1.00. This will deduct the area from the final square footage
- Apply the area type to your new area and it will deduct that space from the final area breakdown.
